Pamela, also known as Pam or Ella, is a graduate of the Dorley programme. She is currently sponsoring Martin.

She speaks with a soft, deep alto. [SD 28]

Relationship with Martin

Martin is responsible for the death of Pamela's best friend's husband, who died pushing his wife out of the way of Martin's vehicle. [SD 5]

Pamela was intentionally paired with Martin by Aunt Bea [SD 34] with the aim of helping her "move on" and process her hatred towards him. [SD 30] When Steph first sees them together, she observes that it is "obvious" that Pamela despises him. [SD 9] Martin tells Aaron in early November that "she hates me". [SD 13]

Pamela confesses later that she initially just wanted Martin to wash out, but at some point she pushed him too hard and made him go quiet, at which time she became worried she'd "really fucked it" and went back to more carefully re-read his file. She realized that they had a lot in common, save for Martin's addiction, for which he had never received the help he needed. Her empathy for him has lead her to recognize him as the product of "a whole edifice of bastards" who share responsibility for enabling him. [SD 34]

The two gradually grew closer after Pamela became invested in Martin's rehabilitation and well-being. By Christmas Eve, Maria believes the two have developed a sisterly relationship akin to Pippa and Steph. [SD 30] Steph also notices their sibling-like bond later that month. [SD 34]

Name changes

Pamela seems inclined towards name changes and is chafing under the name "Pamela", though she is stymied from actually changing it by senior sponsors due, at least in part, to the paperwork involved. [SD 34]

After previously mainly being referred to as Ella, she declares that she is "tired of it" on Christmas Eve and prefers Pamela or Pam.[SD 30] At the "communal bitching session" on December 30th, she states again that she prefers Pamela or Pam, but will accept Ella, "if you must". Pippa remarks that she has had "so many names.” [SD 34]

She doesn't like the nickname "Pammy", which Martin teases her with. (When he relents, he calls her Pam.) [SD 34]
