The Dorley intake for the academic year of 2016 consisted of six girls and three washouts:

- Names marked "tentative" have not yet appeared in the text but are included in a list of names Alyson was "considering" for members of the 2016 intake.[LL] The name "Gillian" was also in this list, but Alyson subsequently used that name for a girl from the 2008 intake and inserted Cally instead.
This cohort, according to Christine, "had a rather tense time of it";[ch. 10] Pippa says the boys "rioted" after disclosure.[ch. 18] The recent "departure of several of our more experienced sponsors" noted by Aunt Bea[ch. 10] may be related to its difficulties.
