Barbara (sometimes called Barb) is a Dorley girl who survived Grandmother’s programme. Under Beatrice's tenure, she served as the Hall's house nurse for an extended period of time but is now retired from all Hall-related duties. She lives in Canada with her husband. [SD 12]
In the programme
Along with Sarah, Barbara was one of Maria’s best friends while at the Hall under Grandmother. [SD 31] The two relied on each other heavily in the immediate period following their liberation (and presumably, while as captives).
In the modern era
On her first trip outside of the Hall after being liberated in Elle and Beatrice's takeover, Barbara was groped by a man. [SD 31]
On December 24, 2004, Barbara was present at the first planning meeting for what would become the modern Dorley programme. [SD 31]
As the Hall nurse, Barbara administered the medical exams and estrogen injections [SD 12] and assisted Mrs Braithwaite with orchiectomies. [SD 49]
Barbara helped out around the Hall for "fifteen-odd years" after being liberated in the 2004 takeover [SD 12] and was the last of the original group of freed girls to leave, save for Maria. [SD 15] She seems to have retired sometime before the beginning of the 2019 intake.

- Barbara is older than Maria (who was born in January, 1982). [SD 12]
Notes on biographical information
Sponsor - while not outright stated, it can be inferred that a woman named Penelope was likely Barb's sponsor; Maria recalls an incident in the dining hall "when Barbara was told what awaited her after Penelope was finished moulding her". [SD 31]
